GREEN ENERGY OFFERS

By subscribing to a product that includes the supply of “Green Energy” (hereinafter: green offer), the Customer is assured that the electricity used to power their utilities comes entirely from generation plants powered by renewable energy sources.

This type of product must necessarily comply with specific criteria and requirements defined by legislation. In particular, the decree of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security of July 14, 2023, No. 224, and ARERA resolution ARG/elt 104/11 and subsequent amendments, state that for each green offer subscribed to by its customers, the supplier must cancel a number of certificates corresponding to the total amount of energy consumed and declared as produced from renewable energy sources. These certificates are the Guarantees of Origin (GO), each equivalent to 1 MWh, which are issued and released by the Energy Services Operator (GSE).

To ensure the effectiveness and transparency of the mechanism, the GSE annually collects from electricity suppliers the data relating to green offers subscribed to by customers, including those concerning the GOs cancelled on behalf of the customers themselves. More information about the mechanism is available on the GSE website.
