Useful tips to avoid scams

Never disclose the details of your electricity and gas supply contract.
Ask for the customer code or POD/PDR number. Only you and Duferco Energia would know these details.
In case of suspicious calls or if the operator is unable to identify him/herself, discontinue the call.

The most used arguments in telephone scams and how to defend yourself

We have gathered here the most frequently used phone scams. These scams were used several times over the years and, fortunately, are quite easy to identify and dismiss.

The operator warns the customer that his/her current tariff is expiring and offers him/her a new offer with a better price.

We will never call you to ask you to choose another supplier. If it happens that your offer is no longer available for some reason, you will receive a written communication from us with the proposal of a new offer, always with Duferco Energia. In any case, it is easy to double check by asking the operator your customer code or POD or PDR number. If it is a scam, he/she will not be able to answer you correctly. In fact, Duferco Energia’s employees and agents only could know them.

The fake operator calls the customer and makes him/her believe that, due to a billing error, he/she is entitled to a refund.

Under this pretext, the operator would ask you to provide your contract data. If you are entitled to a refund, you will be notified in your next bill. We already know your contract details, we would have no reason to ask you for them again.

The operator tells the customer that he/she is paying too much and that he/she could spend much less by switching to another provider or changing tariff plans.

The customer is notified that the end of the protected market is upon us and that he/she must choose a supplier on the free market with which activating a new supply contract.

The transition to the free market, as defined by Arera, will take place starting from January 1, 2023. even if, in recent years, this date has always been postponed. When this happens, if you are already our customer, nothing would change. Duferco Energia is already a free market operator so, in addition to not being left in the dark, you probably won’t even notice the change.
